Case Studies – Lewa Savanne - Zoo Zürich (Switzerland)

Below the Kaen Krachan Elephant Park, Slightly offset by a terrain step, is the new 5.6 hectare svannah landscape. Umbrella-like trees and smaller groups of bushes characterize the landscape. The main animal species will be white rhino, giraffe and grey zebra.

To bring the giraffes and white rhinos closer to an interested audience, these majestic animals can be viewed either outside or in the beautiul interior. The architecture has been designed to allow for the highest possible integration into the environment and you will not really notice the modern one. In order to achievve this, special custom-made record doors were used which were angled, running into walls or completley "standard" integrated into a glass facade. To enable the total integration of the doors into the beautiful architecture, underfloor drives were used to create an angled door.

Not only the animals are worth a visit to Switzerland's largest zoo, but also the architecture offers the visitor anexperience of a wonderful journey without leaving Switzerland.
